About Basecamp
Basecamp is the NGO arm of “ecoLogin Rural and Tribal Products and Services Pvt Ltd”. The organizations operate with a hybrid organisational structure- “ecoLogin”, the for-profit social enterprise promotes rural and tribal products and services while “Basecamp” –the NGO arm of ecoLogin undertakes developmental, educational and social research projects in these areas.
ecoLogin, originally stated as an experience-based alternative tourism service provider, and was incubated at and functioned from C-TIDES at the Department of Management Studies, IIT- Madras. The company has been offering tourism experience in offbeat locations and have a growing roster of around 65 locations in and around Tamil Nadu. Having established this network of rural and tribal communities’ through its eco tourism services, ecoLogin is uniquely positioned to offer other products and services of rural and tribal origin, thereby improving livelihood of the communities in these locations. Hence ecoLogin reworked its service offering to include more products and offerings that are of rural or tribal origin through “ecoLogin Rural and Tribal Products and Services Pvt Ltd”. The focus will be on value addition and finding markets for existing products and identifying new avenues for livelihood.
